Timeless Detailing for Every Bathroom
Tongue-and-groove-style bath panels provide more texture and visual interest than a plain panel without making the bathroom feel overly decorative. The evenly spaced vertical grooves help break up the long horizontal line of a bath and can make the finished installation feel more considered and furniture-like.
The design is particularly effective in traditional and farmhouse bathrooms, but clean vertical lines also complement modern interiors. Choose white or cream for a classic finish, black or anthracite for a contemporary statement, or a wood effect to introduce natural warmth.
Our AQUACLOAK and TubCraft panels are precision routed to create the appearance of traditional tongue-and-groove boards within a stable panel construction. This provides consistent spacing and a clean finish without requiring multiple individual boards to be assembled around the bath.
What Is a Tongue-and-Groove-Style Bath Panel?
Rather than being assembled from separate timber planks, most panels in this range are manufactured from a single moisture-resistant board. Vertical grooves are accurately routed into its face to recreate the traditional tongue-and-groove appearance.
This method produces a strong, consistent panel with evenly spaced detailing and fewer joints. The selected decorative finish is then applied or, with paintable versions, the prepared surface can be finished in your chosen colour.

How to Choose the Correct Panel
Measure the Length
Measure the finished visible length in millimetres at more than one point rather than relying only on the bath’s advertised size.
Measure the Height
Measure from beneath the bath rim to the finished floor at both ends in case the installation is not perfectly level.
Choose the Format
Select a one-piece panel for a fixed height or an adjustable main panel and plinth for greater fitting flexibility.
Select the Finish
Choose a ready-finished colour or wood effect, or select paintable MDF to create your own coordinated colour scheme.
Measure Before Ordering
Wall tiles, flooring, bath position, skirting and boxed-in pipework can all affect the panel size required. Measure the actual finished opening rather than ordering from the bath size alone.
- Record all measurements in millimetres.
- Measure the length and height at several points.
- Check whether the panel requires trimming around pipes or skirting.
- Determine whether a matching end panel is also needed.
- Consider a bespoke panel if standard dimensions require substantial alteration.
Important Installation Information
- MDF panels must be secured to a suitable bath frame or surrounding timber battens.
- Seal any MDF edges exposed by cutting, trimming or drilling.
- Moisture-resistant MDF is suitable for humid interiors but must not stand in water.
- Plan cuts carefully so the vertical groove spacing remains visually balanced.
- Check the individual product listing for dimensions, materials, adjustment and included components.
